Asterisk Benefits Print

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide voice and data infrastructure for you business.

Our product is a low-cost, feature rich, scalable, PC-based PBX system (
Asterisk PBX project) that utilizes the Linux operating system and open source applications to provide the voice infrastructure for your office(s).    Our product can be purchased or leased, and our services can be based on a support contract or on time and materials.  There are no license fees associated with our product.

Additionally, we can provide customized software to meet your voice and data integration requirements.

Replace Your Existing Telephone System

We will replace your existing key- or PBX system with a full-featured PBX telephone system.  Our product is scalable from a small system (with one or two incoming lines and a few telephone sets) up to a system with many incoming T-1 trunks and hundreds of telephone sets distributed over multiple locations.

Upgrade Your Existing Telephone System

We will front-end your existing PBX with our product to provide enhanced calling features.  "Front-end" means that we will place our PBX system between the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) and your existing PBX system.  The incoming trunks will terminate at the new PBX, and a T-1 circuit(s) will be installed between the new PBX and the legacy PBX.  The existing telephone sets will continue to be used.  This upgrade will provide voicemail for each of your employees, auto attendant, IVR (Interactive Voice Response), call queueing, and more.

We will back-end your existing PBX with our product to provide voice and data services to remote locations.  "Back-end" means that we will place our PBX system between your existing PBX and your remote sites.  A T-1 circuit(s) will be installed between the legacy PBX and the new PBX, and a T-1 circuit(s) (or a Internet broadband connection) will be installed between the new PBX and the remote site(s).   A new PBX system may also be installed at the remote site(s).  This upgrade will provide voice and data services to the remote site(s) as well as a unified dialing plan for your enterprise.

Integrate Your Voice and Data Applications

With our product, an incoming call may be directed to a specific account representative based on the customer profile.  With our product, the customer information can be retrieved from existing databases and displayed on the service representative's screen before the call is answered.

Utilize Voice over IP (VoIP) Calling

This product allows your business to utilize Internet calling.  Using one or more subscription services, outbound calling will cost about 2.9¢ per minute.  Also, DID (Direct Inward Dial) numbers can be used to establish a business presence in distant cities--inbound calls to these DID numbers would also cost about 2.9¢ per minute.  Internt-based 800 numbers can be established as well.

VoIP telephone sets may be used with this PBX.  VoIP telephones utilize LAN wiring (instead of telephone wiring) to connect with the PBX system (and the Internet).

Additionally, "softphone" programs can be used from inside or outside the firewall to provide complete PBX functionality on a PC or laptop equipped with a headset. This feature is useful for call center agents, work-at-home employees, and road warriors.

Unified Messaging

With unified messaging, voice mail message notifications can be delivered via e-mail to the recipient.  The voice message itself (a .wav file) can also be delivered as an attachment to the e-mail notification.

Additionally, inbound fax messages can be delivered via e-mail to the recipient.  The fax itself (a .pdf file) can be delivered as an attachment to the e-mail message.

Lines Everywhere

Current phone systems require you to order "lines" to every office. With VOIP we can provide line-appearances wherever you need and how many you need, so long as the locations are on-net.

Extensions Everywhere
Current phone systems require two or four wires to tie down each extension. With Twin Geckos VOIP solutions your extensions can be anywhere your local area network, the Internet, or your traveling laptop can be. We support physical phones ("hard phones"), software emulated IP phones ("soft phones"), and any combination of SIP-protocol phones.

Configuration Services
Stop paying for a PBX or phone-switch maintenance crew, or a consulting outfit. Twin Geckos provides full one-time configuration of all your phone needs, guaranteed monthly support for moves, adds, and changes, and a team of responsive professionals -- at no extra cost to you.

Hardware supported
Twin Geckos supports all SIP phones. We recommend the Cisco 7940/7960 for the medium size business that wants features and comfort. (These are $250 used on eBay, or $350 used fully-configured from us.)

For the small business and the budget-minded consumer we recommend the Grandstream Budgetone 101 or 102. (These are $100 new on eBay, or $200 fully-configured from us.)  Also the Sipura 841 (Sipura is being bought by Cisco) can be purchased for under $100.

For the business that are not ready to throw out (or sell) their old PBX or key-system, Twin Geckos offers Analog Terminal Adapters (ATAs), in all sizes from 2 ports (providing two phone line appearances using IP) to 24 ports (offering a full T1 worth of line appearances). Twin Geckos can provide these new, at cost + programming hourly cost.
